Manchester Camerata x Rushbrook Primary Academy

Manchester Camerata has partnered with Rushbrook Primary Academy in Gorton on a 12-week creative music project for ten young people with additional needs and disabilities and takes place across the summer term.

The sessions are led by a music therapist and a supporting orchestral musician from Manchester Camerata. Sessions are based on flexible methods, and include musical games, songs and movements. This is all rooted in improvisation, allowing each session to be participant-led and responsive to individual needs and abilities. Above all, the sessions are playful and encourage meaningful musical communication among peers.

The partnership forms part of a wider pilot programme exploring how Manchester Camerata can continue to develop longer-term creative opportunities for young people across GM. As an organisation based at The Monastery in Gorton, Manchester Camerata is committed to building strong relationships within the local community and creating opportunities for children and families to connect through music and creativity.
